FRIENDS OF THE PARKS
Neighbors from Papeton and Cragmor are teaming up to form a group to represent our communities’ needs for the neighborhood parks. This group is collecting more information to learn how to form a Friends of the Parks group. They are also planning to attend Park Advisory
Board Meetings, on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 7: 30 am and other City Council meetings. Staff from the City have highly encouraged forming a Friends Group, as this would help our parks receive better care. NATIVE GARDENS
Coming this May, two native flowerbeds will be added to the Portal Park parking lot. The flowerbeds are through the Springs in Bloom program. Neighbors will be coordinating plant pick up and planting dates, maintaining the beds twice a week to weed, deadhead, and trimming. HISTORY PROJECT
The Pioneer Museum would like to connect with neighbors to collect history that will help tell the story of Papeton, Cragmor, and the surrounding area. Staff at the museum are looking for materials that are at least 50 years old. This could be photographs, documents, scrapbooks, diaries, journals, audio or visuals materials, and oral history to record stories. Currently there is very limited collection in the museum, so your stories are needed!
We have heard so many great stories from neighbors about the neighborhood, but now we need them to be recorded with the support of the Pioneer Museum. Do you have a favorite neighborhood story?
