AN ORGANIZATION FOR EVERY NEIGHBOR
On May 19th neighbors met at the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony Recital Site on Primrose Drive to organize an official neighborhood organization. The Papeton Neighborhood Organization is looking forward to hosting social events, a neighborhood yard sale and other projects to connect neighbors and support the neighborhood.
JULY 4th AT FLANAGAN PARK
The neighborhood is encouraging all residents to stop by Flanagan Park on the 4th of July between noon-4pm to meet neighbors. Grills and coolers will be available for anyone bringing food and beverages.
A NEW COMMUNITY ON ARCADIA STREET
A former neighborhood garden, currently empty two lots, soon to be a tiny home community between Prospect and Arcadia Streets. To get more information on this project we spoke with Shelley Jensen, CEO of We Fortify, who is building the community.
A Tiny Home Community consisting of 18 tiny houses, community meeting building, community storage building, off-street parking, landscaping, and private green space.
Local agencies provide referrals for resident applications. Residents are 18-25-year old’s who are students or in the workplace. Residents will have a two-year lease with $600 monthly rent and utilities.
Jensen selected the location, “We wouldn’t put any residents in an unsafe neighborhood, the residents are phenomenal people, who are determined to make their lives better.”
Residents have access to individualized trauma-responsive therapies, life skills education, and living-wage career placement. Future projects include a 40- home community for teachers in D-2.
